Pihak Google melalui laman resmi Android KitKat telah mengkonfirmasi bahwa untuk sementara ini KitKat baru dapat digunakan pada handset terbaru mereka, Nexus 5. Sampai saat ini sistem operasi tersebut masih hadir dalam bentuk SDK atau versi developer.
Versi publiknya sendiri diperkirakan baru akan tersedia bagi publik paling cepat nanti malam atau besok.

Selain itu, para pengguna Android pun diimbau untuk berhati-hati bila tiba-tiba muncul banyak aplikasi downloader di Google Play Store yang mengatasnamakan Android 4.4 KitKat. Jangan sembarang download karena dikhawatirkan aplikasi tersebut palsu dan mengandung malware jahat.

Amazon berencana untuk memperluas cakupan toko aplikasi Android miliknya. Perusahaan yang terkenal sebagai toko online terbesar di dunia ini pun berencana untuk mendatangkan Amazon Appstore untuk pengguna smartphone Android di 200 negara. Perusahaan yang kini dipimpin Jeff Brazos tersebut pun mengatakan akan mewujudkan langkah tersebut dalam waktu dekat. Dengan begitu, para pengguna smartphone dan tablet Android akan memiliki opsi lain untuk mengunduh aplikasi bagi perangkatnya.

Negara-negara yang bakal disinggahi oleh Amazon Appstore antara lain adalah India, Hong Kong, Jepang, Korea Selatan, Thailand serta Vietnam. Amazon sendiri saat ini masih belum mengumumkan secara resmi keseluruhan daftar 200 negara tersebut. Namun kemungkinan besar Indonesia bersama Malaysia, Singapura dan Cina tidak akan termasuk dalam 200 negara tersebut.
Sayangnya, peluncuran Amazon Appstore tersebut tidak dibarengi dengan peluncuran tablet Kindle Fire miliknya. Terlebih tablet milik Amazon tersebut terbukti sangat laris di pasar Amerika Serikat dan bahkan mampu mendominasi pasar tablet Android.
